A chill is in the air here right now so I know potluck season is coming. Holidays means parties and many times potlucks. The trial run of ham and white beans in the crock pot was a success. Thanks to Dwight and Kim for helping to eat up to this test batch. Your go to for the holiday party potluck.

Ham and White Beans

16oz white beans (great northern)

8c water

2t onion powder

1t salt

1 ham hock or large slice of smoked ham

There are two camps for preparing beans:

those who soak overnight, and

those who put them in a pot covered with water, bring them to a rapid boil, cover and let sit for one hour.

Whichever you are, prepare your beans, and in both methods discard the soaking water.

In a crock pot add 8c water, onion powder, salt, ham, and beans.

Cook on low 6 hours (or high 3 hours).

Before serving break up your ham into smaller pieces and discard any bone(s).

Literally, that’s it. Enjoy your potluck!
